ELSD RECOMMENDED RESOURCES FOR CSEC MATHEMATICS

These recommended free e-resources are specifically aligned with the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) curriculum framework as suggested in the CSEC Mathematics Syllabus. Resources are provided under each of the following nine general topics of study as recommended by CXC:

The syllabus generally aims to:

Make Mathematics relevant to the interests and experiences of students by helping them to recognise Mathematics in the local and global environment; CXC 05/G/SYLL16 2
Help students appreciate the use of Mathematics as a form of communication
Help students acquire a range of mathematical techniques and skills and to foster and maintain the awareness of the importance of accuracy
Help students develop positive attitudes, such as open-mindedness, resourcefulness, persistence and a spirit of enquiry
Prepare students for the use of Mathematics in further studies
Help students foster a 'spirit of collaboration', with their peers and others within the wider community;
Help students apply the knowledge and skills acquired to solve problems in everyday situations; and,
Integrate Information Communications, and Technology (ICT) tools and skills in the teaching and learning processes.

NOTE: The student is able to "demonstrate multiple literacies, independent and critical thinking, and innovative application of science and technology to problem solving." Such a person will demonstrate a positive work attitude and value and display creative imagination and entrepreneurship.
